hey i have been looking at the southern polyurethanes paint site but i can't find a list of colors the offer i want to paint my truck ford blue or a similar color and a grey does anybody know if they offer these colors. or how i could get a list of the colors they offer. has anybody used there product, if so how is it. plus how would be the best way to paint my 59 f100 with a two tone paint job. do i want to do it panel by panel or all together at once or what. hope you can help me out and this is not going to be a show truck.
They offer viper blue I know. Barry is working on releasing more colors. I agree with magee, paint it assembled. Not too bad to do a two tone with basecoat/clearcoat. I am assuming your main color will be blue with the lower section grey. Spray you grey basecoat till you have coverage up past the point you will be masking off. Once the grey basecoat has sat long enough to tape on, should say in tech sheets or ask barry, tape and paper off the grey and shoot the blue base. Then unmask and clear the whole truck. You might want to find 3m fineline tape for masking the two tone line with, and after you taped it off, go over the fineline again pressing with your finger. The fineline is better for masking stuff like that and less chance of the second color you spray getting under the tape. Its a little more costly then masking tape. Also buy a good masking tape designed for paint like 3m. The cheap stuff either doesn't stick well or won't remove easy when it gets exposed to solvents, or is left on too long.
Try these folks I know a few people who has used this paint with good results.I ordered a free color chart and a catalog.I told them I had found their site and was new. http://www.smartshoppersinc.com/
what about this auto-air colors waterbased paint. has any one used it, is it good or is there something better for a daily driver paint job that looks pretty good
hello i was wondering about how much paint, primer i would need to paint my truck. It is a 59 f100 and i will be painting the whole cab, inculding outside, bottom, engine bay, inside, inside fenders. you name it im painting it. i will not be painting bed just the cab, so how much epoxy primer, surface primer, paint, clear, etc will i need to paint it?
Good question, really depends on how well the paint covers (some lower lines cover poorly, and some colors just don't cover well even in top lines). Some blues can be poor covering, grey shouldn't be too bad and what you need as far as bodywork, how many rounds of blocking the primer to get straight, how many coats of epoxy you are putting on. The bottom and insides might be able to spray on a coat or two of epoxy primer as a sealer and paint after its sat long enough to paint over but before its out of the time window to paint over it without sanding. It also depends on transfer effieciency of the gun, and how you paint. Two different painters may use different amounts of paint using the same equiptment. Not all brands of paints and primers use the same activation and reduction ratios. Just a wild guess for everything inside and out, bottom and the cab, no bed at all, after the paint has been mixed with activator and any reducer required, Gallon and half of base and epoxy, 2 gallons of clear and filler primer. Maybe just two gallons of base and epoxy too, better to have enough. I really wouldn't go overboard underneath and on any inside parts you won't really see. Areas like engine bay and underneath, inside fenders, I would maybe only put on a coat or two of clear just to protect base, since it won't really be exposed to a lot of uv rays, or be wetsanded and buffed out. Being you plan on doing a two tone, then its really a guess, Don't know what you plan on what you all plan on painting blue, what you plan on painting grey.

i wish i would quite posting a then come up with 10 more questions, but anyways i've been looking at smartshoppers and they have kirker paint for like 35 bucks a gollon that a lot cheaper than most of the other. have any of you used this paint, how does it cover, is it easy to spray, is it quality or garbage that i shouldn't waste my money on? next i was wonering what type of paint would be the easiest to use(synthetic enamel, acrilic enamel, acrilic urethane) i am a complete novice to painting and have no ideal what the difference is or what would be best to use. hope you can help me out.
35 bucks /gallon sounds like a deal! I'm interested to see if it's good paint since I'm going to need alot. I'm a novice as well, so I'll probably end up wasting a good bit.

I had a couple of friends that used Kirker with real good results. They said the better the bodywork and prep work is the better it will look.I plan to use the kirker red for my truck they have several shades of this color.I would call them to get the colorchart and catalog.I also plan on using PPG DP-90 Expoxy primer amd after all the bodywork is done I will use a white sealer before painting. My friends also said to make sure to follow the direction closely and the results were good. One used the Viper Red on his El Camino without the clear he lives in AZ and after 5 years it's still holding up another friend Sprayed the Met Blue on his truck and it looks great.
well if its held up for them, i will probaly use it as it is fairly inexpensive so iwill be able to afford enough, does anybody know how well it covers and how much i would need

When you call smartshoppers they can help you with that.Like anything else I have always been told the better the bodywork will make any paint look good.I haven't used it yet but as soon as I do I will be glad to report how well it turns out and post some pictures.
