What are the pros and cons of ceramic vs metallic pads?

Copy & pasted: " (Hawk Performance HPS) material provides advanced braking characteristics to enhance your driving experience. This unique compound combines the safety and quality of Aerospace design partnered with the braking technology of motorsports. Extremely low dust
# High friction/torque hot or cold
# Gentle on rotors
# Virtually noise-free
# Long extended pad life "

I believe they are listed as a "semi-metallic" pad - whatever the heck that means... Ceramics are a no-no for towing, or even just for a heavy truck in general. Ceramic pads are low/no dust - but are NOT fade resistant!!

Yeah just got e-mail from guy in Orange county $280 all 4 delivered - $30 if you pick them up in Santa Anna. They don't carry Hawk pads but they have low dust pads for $90 front and rear. He said that Hawks do work really good with thier rotors.

Lush/anyone,

This is a cut and paste from the ebay ad: 3/15/99-2003 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY TRUCK, 1 TON, 4WD (Single Rear Wheel Only).

The rotors for sale are for the front. Do DRW F-350's have different front rotors? My truck is an 01 F-350 crew DRW.

Has anyone shopped around for the best deal from one of our sponsors?

Reg

I think they ar different for the DRW, but I have a SWD. I am basing my opinion on the fact that I have seen in one of the EBAY adds for the rear rotors it mentions you must tell them what year you have and whether or not it is SRW or DRW. I would email them and ask.

Are you using the stock rotors or did you upgrade the rotors at the same time? If so, which rotors did you use?

I highly recommend them to anyone going to de their brakes.

I'm using the stock rotors.
There was only 60K on my brake system, and all things were in decent shape.

Yes, I think those are the ones I ordered.
I thought that was the only type available for my truck at the time.

I got the "Hawk Performance HPS" pads - those were recommended to me where I ordered them. I'm not really sure on the difference from the "Severe Duty Truck Compound" pads - they read just about the same specs, depending on where you get the info??

When I went back to get them the only ones they had were the HPS. I had to get them cause I was in desperate need of new brakes. I have haad them on for a day and I can a lot better. Does anyone know the difference between their pads?
