I just watched a program (Trucks!) where he rebuilt a 302 into a 350 "stroker". Forgive my ignorance, but what the f___ did he do? What is a stroker? And should I consider this? I don't want to build a dragster, but I do have a leak at the rear main (1 drop per day). Should I buy a crate? or should I build Stacy's stroker? or should I get a new rear main seal (ouch)?
It's an engine that has been modifed with a longer than stock throw crankshaft to increase the displacemant.

Buying a crate motor or building a stroker motor = ouch ($$$ wise). Replacing the rear main makes for a long day (or two depending on the engine) but isn't that expensive.

350 is braggin' anyway. Last time I checked the typical stroker kit only brought the 302 up to about 347 cid. Besides, who wants to admit they have an engine in their Ford with numbers from a Chevy (350 is a typical Chevy/GM displacement)? At any rate, cookie88's right its a money intensive project.
A stroker will make more torque.
The 302 stroker kits are popular because a 302 will fit into lot's of ford models were a 351's taller deck doesnt. Mustangs Falcons ect.
In a bronco a 351 will fit,making a stroker kit for a 302 not a good choice.
On the other hand there a many stroker kit's for 351's
But a 460 can also installed in a bronco.
You need to decide what you want the truck for.
If it's a every day driver and you want more power upgrade to a 351.
If you want more you need to look at the truck as a whole because you will be upgrading alot things to go with the increased power your motor will produce.
If your rear-main is only leaking a drop per day, your in good shape.
Thank you for that. My girlfriend was having caniptions because of the drops in the driveway. I've had this Bronco for close to 9,000 miles and the dipstick is still above the add mark since the last oil change, which was shortly after we bought it.
