My 90 Ranger recently started some ODD behavior. My uncle and I replaced the front core support last summer and ever since then, I've been having the battery Dummy light on the dash come on @ lower engine speeds (usually around 1000 - 2500rpm). but then goes out when engine speeds are above 3000rpm or when I have EVERYTHING on (headlights, heater, stereo, etc....)
My little truck also has a gauge along with the light. the gauge says the system is charging, but with this light going on and off, Im not so sure.
I've tried changing battery terminals and cables, redoing and cleaning grounds, cleaned the terminals to the alternator. You name it, I've tried it.
The one thing I'm going to do next is change out the alternator itself, maybe that will fix it. anyone got an Idea I havent tried?
we used a wire feed welder, but there was no Power to the system when we did all of this. still possible thats what happened? we had the battery, batt. tray, air box and all that out. I suppose it is possible that there could have been enough juice to go through the ground wires of the system when we were doing the replacement.
Thanks
I replaced my alternator this morning and so far...NO LIGHT!
