Yesterday night the printer at the Co-op malunctioned and didn't want to print anymore. So this morning I dug out our old Epson ActionPrinter 5000 and took it to work but the printer started working today. So when I got home I hooked it up to my computer. I wanted to see how well it still worked. The ribbon was looking a little worn but I printed a picture. Hearing the high pitched wine brought back some memories of playing games and printing banners on the old 386 computer. Remember this is a printer that prints a page in 1-2 minutes bon tractor paper. It got too hot twice so it had to pause to cool down. So what were your first computers? I remember our old 386 with 350mb hard drive, 4x Media Vision cd-rom, Pro-audio spectrum sound card and the turbo button to slow the computer from 33mhz to 16mhz. I remember fighting MS-Dos to free up over 600k of memory to play that latest game like Space Quest, Kings Quest, and Duke Nukem.
I had 2 old computer systems before this one, just don`t ask anything about them as I don`t have a clue about computers period. Turn it on and surf the net is the extent of my knowledge, glad I know more about Ford trucks and car/Mustangs.
My first one was a 286 12MHz, with 1 MB of memory and a 20 MB Hard Drive, it had a 5 1/4 inch floppy drive and a color monitor. It cost just under 5 Grand!!! I used to play Faceoff hockey and World Class Leader Board Golf. Ah, them were the days!!
First one we had was a Compaq Presario we bought in 1995 (I was in grade 7) It had Pentium 75, 880kb hard drive, 8mb RAM, we upped to 40 later, a 4x CD drive, and that all I remember. We used it for at least 6 years before we go this one. It needs more power now (read with Tim Allen grunt sounds) But it still works sometimes, so I'll probly just leave it alone.
I barely remember the Commodore 64 we had in kindergarten. Our neighbour had one to, but the only memory I have of it was playing a racing game with some joystick, getting really excited about the race, jumping up and hitting my head on the top bunk.
Your supposed to steal an old turbo button and led mhz display of an old AT computer and wire it up to your new computer. You could fool your friends by pushing the button and having the display go up a ghz but in reality it wouldn't increase the speed. It would be funny to see them go to a computer store and have them ask for a computer case with a turbo button.
