Manual Locking Hubs
Manual Locking Hubs
I have manual locking hubs on my 1990 Bronco. Inside the hub, there is a little piece a platic that slides to engage/disengage the hub. It is made of plastic and the tabs thats make is slide have broken off. I went to the ford dealer and they tried to sell me the whole assembly for $80. I only need a little piece of plastic. Does anyone now where I might be able to get one? Thanks
Try a wrecker or salvage yard. Instead of buying the ford assembly buy either warn or superwinch. They're about the same price but the superwinches use an aluminum piece - no plastic in it at all.
Unless you go to a salvage yard to dig up the components, you will have to buy the entire manual hub assembly and you will have to buy the pair. They are only sold in pairs after market. Ford MIGHT sell you just one but not just part of the assembly. If you really want to fix 'em for good, and get rid of the plastic components all together, check out the Mile Marker brand manual hubs. They make a set that has an all-stainless steel face so there are no plastic parts in the hub to deteriorate. I bought the set I have on sale at The Graveyard.
