Homespun around here in the latr 60,s & 70's there were quite a few F500/600s with the 300/4spd/2spd combo. Local dealer sold lots of them to the local farmers. The only V8's were the FT's. I preped a lot of those trucks at the dealer, most were barebones no option plain janes. They had the prices down and they sold lots of them. The local GM & Ford dealers often had price wars.
They would sell trucks at or below cost to get their sales #s up. Them later on try to sell them a new pickup or car & make up the difference.

Hotwrench, never have seen one of those trucks -- when I was young, all the big trucks were Cornbinders in our part of the world. But as the 300 was a truck engine, it makes sense that Ford would have a motor mount bellhousing for them in big trucks. Thanks for the tip. That bellhousing would, as you say, allow the 300 to practically drop into Customcab's 4x4.

Homespun, regarding the T98, it was replaced with the T18 somewhere along the line, so when your listings show that, it is the same thing, practically. I don't know what the difference is between these two, they look similar.

I don't think that 289s or 302s came in medium or large trucks. The "spread" in the line-up would be taken from the 300 to the 332 FT motor.

bell houseing

hi just been reading your threads , im think y change the 292 ? it will tow just as good as a 300?
sound better? i have a 292 in a f700 5 speed /2 speed diff, it works great its gross weight is 10.430 and tare 4460, it tows a trailer with a bobcat on it but im building a 361 to go in easy fit as i have three mounts ,2 on the bell ,1 on the front pully crank , same bellhousing , same clutch, same gear boxs my 2 cents worth

Knowing this, are you saying that the bell-H from a 60's F-500+ and 300 might bolt to an older T-98...I.E. like the one in my 55 F-600?

Thanks!!

I hope this helps---------- Hotwrench

Do you remember which transmission it had in it?

and the 300 was a front mt , with a little minor foolin around it fit like it was factory. As far as T&C goes when I worked for Ford they said it was Tall & Close meaning the pattern. I don't know if thats right or not. The front mount wwas similar too the 223 / 6 front mt. Ill try to remember more later.

Bellhousing casting # C5TZ-7505-E fits DCFN series 500/600
4/5 speed 300/6

Flywheel # C5TZ-6375-B 12"
Flywheel # C5TZ-6375-S 13" HD

Ok,

So you're saying the newer F-500 CAME with a T-18 + 300 six stock?

Ant the bellhousing below also works with a 5 speed trans? Do you know which trans is the 5 speed?

Evidently all the transmissions that go in the F500/600's have the Ebrake on the back...

Hmm.....you broke the code!!

Actually I have thought about putting my AF67/PMR7 in the 55 F-600 (I have the mobile power supply....complete with vibrator!)! There's a lot of people up here in the NW that like to do AM on 75 and the Elmac stuff would fit right in!!

I actually DO have an SX-115 and an HT-32B The SX-115 actually works!...the HT-32B has not been smoke tested yet! It needs a bit of work.

Guess I never really paid attention to the "code" before! I havent been mobile since I worked for National and had a NCX-5 in a 64 GTO ragtop.
Got lots of BA's here including a recreation of my 55 station: Viking 1 and HQ129X which is on 75 AM. Lots of new stuff also for DX!
Have fun

I ran the casting number on F700's Bellhousing earlier.

C4TA-7505-G = C4TZ-7505-D
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Add to you ref:

C5TZ-7505-E .. Use with: Warner T-19; Clark 280; NP 435; NP 542

1965/69 B-C-F-N500-600

1970/72 B-C-F-LN500/600

240/300 I-6
