What is this oily supstance that is on all the piping for the turbo/intercooler.
It is just a light coat, where is this coming from and is this good or not what can I do to fix it?
Thanks
If you haven't done the CCV mod, it is the oily vapor residue from your crank case being plumbed back into your intake for combustion. If so, do a search for CCV mod.
its oil vapor from the engine via the crank case vent that pipes into your intake. it is messing and annoying and helps the rubber boots to slip of the pipes. you easily reroute your crank case vent(ccv) by removing your intake and reversing the little housing on top of the drivers side valve cover it is held on with 2 phillips head screws. the you use hose to pipe the vent toward the back of the truck some also pipe it into the exhaust cause it does give off some vapor and doesn't smell that great either.
btw have 2 o-ring handy for the ccv housing the one from ford swell in the oil so if possible remove it and got to the aprts store and get 2 round o-ring that fit the holes. these will be different that what is on there but they will work and they are reuseable unlike th ford o-ring that are a couple buck rather than a couple of cents.
also you will need some thing to plug the hole now in the intake or use a peice of 4 inch exhuast pipe to completely replace the peice in the intake. maybe other have pic of their ccv mod.
