Is this the same as the 5.4L engine or is it completely different.

Interesting question, I'd like to know as well. Better sound, more power for basically nothing. I like it!

Nifty mod, got the bug and ripped mine out just now. Took about 20 minutes. Haven't driven it yet, but I will later. Always looking to increase low end response. . .it stinks!

I did it in my 04 4.6 and it looks pretty darn similar to the one in the 5.4. A tip for this mod is to have someone hold onto the hose and you can yank the silencer out. Otherwise, if you do it yourself, it can take longer. Grab a friend and its a sinch

I just finished mine and took it for a test drive. Slight noticable difference from a stop, but however out on the the highway and steeping down on it for passing or what not very noticable it doesn't hesitate near as much for me

I used a small punch and hammer and tapped on the edge of the skinny part of tube and it came out pretty easy. Noticable difference? Not really. . .Most significant thing I got out of it was a skinned knuckle

I just took mine out too. I used some garden shears and a long flat head screw driver. It took me about 20-30 minutes.

Its a PITA. I used a flat head screw driver and as I was working my way around the silencer, I accidently poked threw the rubber hosing. I glued it back and never looked back!
