I have a 70 Ranger XLT F-250 with a 360 and auto Trans I purchased headers from summit auto here in town and I love them a little tuff to get them on but fit with no prob my ? is will the same set fit my 71 F-250 Custom 4X4 with a stick? I'm worried about the clutch pivot bushing on the engine and frame.
other than that I don't think I'll have much of a problem there is tons of room and since I am obviously doing something very wrong with my manifolds I have broke 5 driver side manifolds they keep cracking in the middle or spliting I thought I was torqing them wrong and rechecked the book and tried various different gaskets from factory metal to pricey racing sets but anyway summit has a descent set of headers for about $120 with 3 in collectors
any info would be great!!! thanks again ya'll!!
I can't say for sure, but I have a 360 in my other truck (68 F100) and the instructions said "NOT FOR 4X4" these are 15 year Headman headers. You could call the manufacture and find out for sure.
in 1975 ford came out with a new casting that is a lot heavier than the earlier models. they only cast this heavier manifold for the driver side. they are a little hard to find as they only made fe's till 1976 in pickups. i think that might stop your manifold cracking problem. only drawback to that manifold is that it has a wider bolt pattern at the flange requiring a larger exhaust pipe than the passsenger side. jim.
I have had 2 different sizes of flange on a few sets of manifolds I wonder if one was the heavy duty one you spoke of is there a # stamped on them or any way to tell them apart?
