I use a different vehicle for back and forth to work. Since it's not a "work" truck I enjoy using it for many recreational activities. It's kind of an ongoing project of mine (and I suspect others who subscribe to this "Ford Truck Enthusiasts" forum ) to improve upon its performance. That may include modifying the engine for more HP, torque or better drivability and gas mileage, upgrading the suspension, appearance add ons, the list goes on and on.
Some may actually enjoy and have fun sharing experience and ideas in this process. I can understand your situ, but don't be raining on our parade.

If you want to go a cheaper route, you can swap in an electric fan from a Taurus. You can pick those up at any junkyard for $20-40. After that you only need to get the stuff to hook it up and a higher output alternator. So depending on if you get a new or used alternator, you are looking at around $100 for the whole setup.

i dont think u really need any fan for highway driving. we drove a 93 150 auto with NO radiator fan 30plus miles to the landfill towing a 16 ft 2 axel trailer loaded with junk (long story) and it ran fine temp wise, until we had to stop and wait in line. im thinkin about takin mine off and seeing what happens.

That is true, on highway the fan doesn't need to be running, this is where electric fans give you the best MPGs because they wont run then. When you are doing stop/go driving, driving at slow speeds, and idling is when you need the fan turning.

That's pretty much the idea I had.Take everything off my taurus and use it if it doesn't pass emissions testing.

I'm intrigued by the Taurus e-fan idea. Generally, what all do you need to do that swap? How is it with towing (I occasionally tow a car and a few times a year our riding mower or go kart on a 1400# trailer)?

What about aftermarket throttle bodies for a 302 (5.0)? Worth it?

all you have to do is either wire it up to a toggle switch or get one that has the probe and it will turn itself on when it needs to, it works just fine, just remember when you take the other fan out you still need the belt goin around that pully for your water pump

get the fan out of a 3.8 taurus, that is the one that moves the most air.

Yea, that one is the best, if I remember right it is a two speed also so it doesn't draw as much on start-up. You will need wires, a fan controller, a temp. sensor, and you will need to upgrade your alternator to at least a 3G.
