On a slightly different subject, about 20 years ago TRW made some forged pistons that gave you more cubic inches with a 427 block. To sum it up, you took a 427 block, dropped in a 428 crank and with these special pistons, gave you about 454 cubic inches. (More or less depending on the overbore)
I haven't heard any more about these pistons and I'm sure they are long discontinued. Sure would be cheaper than overboring and resleeving a piston however.
Had I kept their piston catalog I could give you a part number, but like I said I'm sure they are long discontinued.
I can do that today with either a factory 428 crank or any variety of Scat cast cranks. Diamond makes the pistons (I'm a distributor) for all the crank combos except for the 390 w/428 crank. Probe makes pistons for those (I WD them too).
