Help!!! Bed Bolts Stuck

I've been working on getting my bed off my 84 F150. its a shortbed but it has 8 bolts. I've tried just about everything except a hacksaw or a plasma cutter. I can't get these bolts out. I can't fit any of my power or air tools in there, and hand tools can't break 'em loose. I've already broken a couple breaker bars. My brother and I tried torching the heads out, but that didnt work. If i could just get the heads off i can deal with it from there. Any suggestions guys???
Thanks

Take a grinder, grind the head off, pull the bed up over the bolts. Then get new bolts.

Since you have access to a torch, why not get under it and torch off the nuts?

You mean a Jesus Knife?

They're awesome, but how about using a plasma cutter to burn the centers out of the bolts?
Havent gotten that ambishious around the gas tanks myself though... I had a bad experiance...

Anyways good luck

Excuse the pun but a nut buster works wonders on them. I used it on mine and they split nicely.

I would be careful using a torch there, especially if you have a front tank as the fuel lines are plastic and are right there along with the rubber hose that leads to the vapor canister.

When I did mine, I was able to get my impact in there with two extensions and a uniwiggle combination.

When you put it back on, use some thread lock on the bolts. It will help to keep the rust off the threads. Most people think that stuff makes bolts harder to get off but many times it helps since it protects the mating surface.

Good Luck,

Lee

Antiseise does the same thing, but doesnt make the bolt harder to get off... Sure, the locktight keeps the rust off, but it also locks between the bolt and the nut... Great for most things, but if its going to be a pita to get to, id just put antiseise on it, so I dont have to "break it loose"

Hey thanks a lot guys... My buddy actually got me a nut buster, but it wouldnt fit, and I took the gas tank out previously, so that was already cleared. My bro and I ended up torching the nuts off, and the bed came right off. Almost ran out of acetlyne, but we got the job done. My next question is about the rust stuff, which is truely the best, POR-15, Rust Bullet, or One Step... Any thoughts on that??
Thanks again guys

I use one step at work. I know it's got to setup for 24 hours before you can paint over it. works pretty good.
