Ron, I think it would be a good to grab the driveshaft with the tranny and I believe you will have to have the length adjusted.

Transmission swap
I made this exact swap about 10 years ago in my 67 F100. It was very easy if the C6 comes out of a pick-up. The frame cross member lined up just fine (you must unbolt it to do the swap,it looks like you can do it without moving this crossmember but it is vastly easier if do) Make sure you get the front driveshaft from the donor truck-it should hook up to your existing rear driveshaft at the carrier bearing just fine if the donor had the same bed length (and might work anyway-in my case the donor and my truck were both long beds so I dont know if this is important) Try to get the speedo cable from the donor as well as the C6 end is different than the FMX end. The only real problem was with the kick down linkage and shifting linkage. both had to be custom fabricated -the kickdown from the donor could was bent and welded into shape after much hair pulling and the shift linkage was made from threaded rod (the pointer on the column no longer points to the correct letter-the C6 detents are different . This is a small annoyance to get a vastly better tranny. Good Luck!

Wes aren't the tail shaft connections different on the two trannies? I was thinking they were when I posted to grab the driveshaft.
