As I unscrewed the last screw to the cover of heater assembly (in order to change the heater core), a mysterious bracket flew out. I put everything back together minus the bracket and now I cannot get air to blow up the defroster ducts. The screw was the farthest one on the left on the bottom edge of the cover. Does anyone know where this bracket goes?

I hate to have to be the one to break the news to you Dave, but your going to need to pull the heater box again. I believe your flapper that diverts the air is what fell out. Now that you know you have this problem, it should be something you can figure out with the box off. The operating principle of the box is very straight forward. Let us know.
