ABS code
I'm Freek from the Netherlands Europe and I own a 1995 F150 XLT 5,8
My ABS light flashes; 15 short flashes and 1 long flash.
Cruise control doesn't work since the ABS flashes.
While the engine is running I can't go from P(ark) to D.
Only when I start it in (N)eutral I can switch to D(rive)
Does anyone have an idea ?
Thanks in advance,
Freek
Is the red brake light on? this can be emergency brake engaged or a bad float switch in the master cylinder ( or low fluid level in MC). Check fuses 13, 15 and 17.
Also check to be sure that there is no fluid in the Cruise control brake pressure switch mounted on top of the master cylinder at front - this is subject to recall and needs a fusible link harness installed to prevent fire related problems when switch leaks.
The inability to shift out of Park is associated with the shift lock solenoid located at lower end of steering column - the work around is to do what you describe and is in the owner's manual, I believe. Normally when you put your foot on the brake the solenoid releases the shift lock to allow the shift lever to move. Check fuses 13 and 18.
Good luck.
