i have 67' highboy.i get power at the radio but no reception/sound.anybody got any ideas on how to fix or replace fairly cheap.i've looked but can't find anything that fits the stock hole and i don't want to butcher the dash. thanks for any suggestions.
Autozone has two **** radios but they sound like crap. I know you said you dont wanna butcher the dash but their is an alternative you can use to where you only have to bend the mounting tabs back, a 75 volvo kit upside down will allow you to install a modern radio.
Can use a 1978-1979 Ford truck or Bronco attenea, those antennae get better reception. Try Kenwood, last time I checked, they sold the **** style radios.
In the mean time you can always put one in the glove compartment to save cutting the dash. Another idea is carefully to fasten it below the dash. Speaker placement is the hardest to do, since I will not cut the doors or panels.
lots of good advice.i do know that the opening in the 67' cab is smaller than in 68' to72'.being the first year for that body style, the interior design is different than the rest.i have one mounted under the dash "for now" and i made my own speaker boxes for under the seat.more ideas please;and i have checked the dash speaker the problem is internal to the radio.i'm new here and i appreciate everyone's help. ok so i like the smileys alittle to much
as far as the radio goes i am eventually going to get the headliner lmc sells, after i swap out cabs, as for speakers i have a pair mounted to a piece of plywood that is secured to the back of my seat.
After you check your speaker connections, if you determine the radio is inop, take it to a radio repair shop and get them to fix it.
My wife's 91 (much newer) LTD Crown Vic's radio died, got it fixed for 300 bucks,,,,OUCH! Could have had a aftermarket radio with a CD player for 300...stay factory, stay broke...lol
I have a **** radio w/o trim face you can have. where are you? Cassett type, can't remember what brand. If your interested PM me, but I won't see it till monday.
*EDIT* Oregon? UPS?
