pfogle...eec fail-safe question.
87 e150 302. shifter says prdd1.
i noticed you mentioning that once you get codes the eec will stop reading sensors and not add any codes. is this correct?. i have 2 codes...but
my tranny has been shuttering bad after first gear.....though it seems to shift fine and seems ok in first gear...........doesn't sputter when i hold the brake and apply gas...after test driving a block or so, the engine will sputter like a stall after i place it in park, leading me to believe the tranny isn't the issue, but that maybe the sensors trying to deal with what feel like a locking up tranny... if i apply gas in park she'll go back to normal. she starts fine and sound great at high rpms while using my scanner.
my ect fails when wiggled......but no code for it.... wondering if the eec is even reading this sensor in this mode.................
i have egr and thermactor codes. my 87 evts ford manual sez this on the eec page......................
"if the eec operates with a 10 degree BTDC constant spark timing, and the egr and thermactor air flow systems do not operate, there is a problem in either the calibration assembly or the eec module(los mode). follow proper diagnostic procedres before replacing the eec-iv module"
i'm gonna give the electronic sensors a check. especially the tps and the one on the rear end. then take the eec for a test,
i'm just wondering if my eec has been at fault and now if freaking my tranny.
any input on the operation of the eec in fail safe mode would be nice.
if i'm missing some point or you see something in the description of my issue.
if all else fails, i'll bother steve for some tranny advise.
thank you
rob
