THe other day i went to pull a trailer and it would cut out and eventually die on my the batery had went dead and so i charged it and put it back in and it ran fine so i took the alternater of and had it tested and it tested ok so then i had it checked on the truck and it was till fine and so i figured it was the connections but i cleaned thenm up and it is still doing it. SO im at a loss. If anyone has any ideas or has had this problem and could tell me how to fix it it would be greatly appreciated.
with the engine off, whats the voltage measured at the battery?
with the engine running, whats the volatage at the battery?

More than likely you have either an open fuse link or bad plug at the alternator.
Like Popa Tim said, we need to know the voltage at the alternator with the key off and on.
The voltage is to be taken at the "B" wires (Black with Orange stripe), "A" wire (Yellow with White stripe) and the "I" wire (Light Green and Red, key on only).
Test light will work on the alternator for a quick test if you do not have a meter.
