hello, my parents own a 1970 f250 with a 360 in it, they are going to get rid of the truck cause they dont use it anymore, now the thing that i was wondering about is the engine, i want to know if its a good engine. the plan that i have for it, if possible, is to take the engine out of the truck and save it for when the engine in my 93 mustang gt dies, i'll have an engine to put in, will the engine fit in the car, will it even be worted, will it fit like a 351, how much hp and tq do theses engines have, if its not worted, can i use the block for anything, ok lots of question for a new guy, but this is the best truck site that i found, ok thanks for all ur help
Diego, The 360 is a Ford Edsel engine and is one of the best truck engine famlies ever built. The 352, 390, 427, and 428 are all in that family. Will it fit your mustang, maybe, but you would have to change the tranny as well. I don't know what state you live in, but the 93 has computer control and emmissions equipment on it, that the FE doesn't have, so IMHO it's not a great idea. You didn't say if there is a 4 or 6 cylinder in the car now, but the 360 weighs well over 600 lbs. and has a lot of low end torque. Your car was built to max handle a 5.0, even though the 352 is only one cube different than the 351, it a much larger engine in size.
My question for you is if you are thinking about keeping the engine, how about the rest of the truck, is is not worth keeping as well?
I hope this helps a little.

The 360 is a truck only engine with little use in a late model car such as your Mustang GT. From the factory the 360 has around 215 HP and something like 340 Ft/lbs of torque. Alternatively, the 360 could be converted into a 390 with a new crank, rods and possibly pistons. This 390 was a popular engine in earlier Mustangs. Is it worth it for the conversion? Probably not due to time and cost factors. You ought to look for a newer 302 or 351 and modify it or just rebuild your 302.
I saw one of the new body style mustangs '96+ in a magazine a while ago with a 427 in it, it had 8 webers , or 4 however that works with the velocity stack thing for each cylinder, so it fit between the shock towers, but I dont know how well it'd work for a 93, your probably better off selling the truck and using the money to buy a crate 351 from FRPP for your mustang
There ya' go again John, firing up another FE debate :-)

Nothing, and I mean nothing, stirs the soul, saying I'm a bad **** like lettin'em rip with a window shaking, fuel gulpin, carbon monoxide belchin, attention gettin, V-oh my LORD!-8!
Had a 75 Super cab with the 360, it was always a smooth engine. But, if you put it, or try to put it, in the mustang, you won't be happy. Not to mention killing the mustang's resale value. Would you really want to tell someone you put a 1970 360 truck engine in?? Better off with a built up 302.....In my opinion at least..
Hi, I don't think it will fit without major modification to the shock towers if that 93 is anything like my 95 I KNOW it won't fit. the older mustangs like the 67-68 that had 390's in them had more room between the shock towers that was the whole purpose for making that car wider than the 65-66. plus you won't get the performance you're looking for the 360 is a whole lot of torque and not much horsepower you want horsepower and light weight the 360 is all wrong for what you want. Keep it and rebuild the truck.
John.
I wouldn't even consider it..... the 360 would squash your mustang... it's way too heavy (as well as physically too large) for your car. Not only is it way too big, it won't bolt to your transmission, not even close. Of course anything can be done with enough money and enough time and re-engineering, and yes, 390s (which are closely related to 360s) were put in 68 or 69 mustangs, but they are totally different cars which have absolutely nothing in common with any of the new mustangs (79-93) or the newer 94-?? series. Now, assuming to decided to make the engine swap you would be disappointed with the performance of the 360 for a car like the mustang.... you'd end up in the bushes trying to corner!!
Last time an (F)ord (E)ngine was able to fit in stang's was 68-70 when the largest FE 428 SCJ was still around. As for if it will fit yeah if you got the major coin to put it in and redo the whole front of the car, But then might as well in stall a 429/460 100 lb's heavier and a little narrower than the fe. But the part's are easier to find and cheaper in the long run only way you will be able to drive it is down the strip because you will never pass emission testing. So swap in the 351 windsor.
everyone says how heavy the FE is, but a 460 is almost the same weight, add a high capacity oil pan, or a heavy driver, even a passenger, and you have the same weight in your vehicle
