Replacement backup sensors?

I have had my ’03 F350 for several months now. When I bought it the back up sensors did not work. They could not be turned on in reverse. If you did manage to turn them on in drive or neutral (while jabbing the darn button repeatedly)… They just shut themselves off again as soon as you put the transmission in reverse.
<O
I don’t miss them as I have never had them. However, my truck is very large (crew, long bed with canopy) and my wife is very uncomfortable backing it up. More so since backing into and destroying the front end of a Honda Civic.
<O
I have searched on the ‘back up sensor’ topic and have discovered that a) they are finicky, especially with snow, frost, rain, tailgates etc. b) when working they are great and most people love them c) when working they drive some people absolutely buggy. d) Ford dealers sell the sensors for $70 usd each south of the border.
<O
I decided I would take it to a dealer that I have some trust in for a diagnosis. $90 later I am told 3 of 4 sensors are bad. At $170 cdn per sensor and $100/hr+ shop rates, the dealer would like almost $750 cdn to make my wife more comfortable with backing up my truck. As you can probably tell, I think this expense is excessive and unnecessary.
<O
I have seen some aftermarket kits that cost half that. Surely there must be some source of cheaper replacement sensors either aftermarket or OEM out there. Any suggestions? Perhaps International?
<O
I am quite happy with my solution, which is ‘I and only I shall drive my truck from now on’! However, I am being pressure to explore other options.

Thanks Harry. There seems to be a lot of aftermarket kits available.

I wonder if the sensors are interchangeable though? It would be nice if I can just splice in a sensor leaving the oem module and wiring in place. I don't suppose it would hurt to try... I can't break it worse than it already is.

I think I will give my local wrecker a call first and see if they can yank some oem sensors for me at a reasonable cost.
