A couple months ago I posted about an oil leak on my 06, PSD. At the time the truck only had 110 miles. I took it to the dealership and the tech added dye but still had no luck locating the leak. I was told that the tech would try again in April when I brought it in for it's first scheduled oil change. Well, it seemed to me that the leak was getting worse so I went ahead and took it in on Monday morning. The service writer called me this morning and said the RMS was replaced and my truck is ready to be picked up.
I just noticed a leak yesterday when for some reason I was under the truck, just looking around. It's an 06 PSD at 2200 miles and I've had it about 4 weeks. My supicion is that it's the rear main seal and will have it in next week. Question is that when I step on it from a dead stop and let it wind thru the gears, ( gives me a grin every time ) I get a funny vibration at the beginnig of 1st and 2nd. It's not noticable in other gears. I'm wondering if this could be the reason for the leak. Hopefully the dealer will notice it too!!!
I have gone through two 2006 PSD 6.0.
One F350 Lariat SC, developed pretty severe oil leak after
3500 mls.
I traded it in for a F350 Crew Cab. This now has 7500 miles on it and had developed a leak near the bottom engine case bolts. I have talked to many PSD owners in the area, all are aware of the oil leak issues with this engine.
I had a leak fixed a couple of months ago. After I ran the truck with dye in it for a week, they traced the leak to the cam position sensor o-ring. They replaced it and the leak went away....for a while. I changed the oil a couple of weeks later and there was no oil leak. Then a couple weeks later I was under the truck again and found oil on the BH. I wiped it off once a week for the past 3 or 4 weeks. It keeps coming back.
I'm taking it back to the dealer next week on Thursday. (That's the first day they will have a loaner car for me). I offered to drop by yesterday for them to put more dye in it. The service advisor said that wasn't necessary b/c he was sure they could find this leak. I have my doubts. They couldn't find it without dye the first time around.
I like my truck, but the oil leak really bothers me. The first leak was noticed around 20K miles. Fixed at about 21K miles. Currently has 22.6K miles.
I haven't had or noticed any new leaks since, but I haven't put many miles on the truck. I've been driving my work truck all week and won't be back in the diesel till next Monday. I'll keep everyone posted.
