k i think i have serious problems...
while driving down the road today... not doing anything stupid... i hear a large pop
i get out and see that my front drivers side radius arm has snapped in half and the fitting going into the bracket is completely gone...
ive had a similar problem where my arm bracket has rusted out and the bottom of that truck has a pretty bad rust problem...
what would you all suggest doing?
sell it or what?
cuz id rather not have to replace my whole suspension due to rust
its a 1995 f150 with 99k miles
I have a 95 and the bushing went bad. It was beating around like heck. I got a universal kit from Advance and fixed it. Your problem is more serious but I too would replace the arm.
ironic i just did my brackets and the bushings on my 94 150, they alone were about 45 bucks a bracket and 30 for the bushings and the the arms are 90 dollars a piece so your lookin at 300. and i will say if you have rust, the bolt holding them to the i-beam isnt easy to get off. there are TWO nuts on it. one is hiddin below the bolt that holds the spring on. take the top piece off and the spring then there is like a spacer you just pop off and you will c the other nut right there. look at www.broncograveyard.com they have EVERY THING like this for good prices
well it was hell to get off... especially the about foot and a half long bolt... but i got it done
and it only costed me $100 but i got a decently nice one from a junkyard and it was hell to get that one off of the old truck too
i just dont want to have to replace everything under the truck just cuz of rust... and i wouldnt think it would be a normal thing to have a radius arm break in half like that
little while back i had mine break. i got a 4" lift on mine and it broke right by the drop bracket. i wasnt messing around either, i was going up my buddys driveway and it snapped. $100 from ford for replacement, no problems since.
This summer I'm going to pull the bed and sand blast the frame and all. Then prime and undercoat likr h**l. But I gotta' say my undercarriage is in great shape even though the original owner was a coal miner and it's well known that those guys abuse their trucks. This ine has help up well.
i figured why im on here does anyone know where to look for new performance chips for a 95 f150 with a 302?
ive searched everywhere and cant find a single one except ebay and i dont really trust ebay since ive been ripped off before
that and wheel well chrome... i have one piece that had been dinted in before i got the truck and i wanna get either that one replaced or get a whole new set
I get a mag. called Performance parts. It's for trucks and has almost everything you can imagine. They'll send you a free catalog in about 7 days. Let me look up a link. I'll pm you the phone# or web address if I can find it.
squeals99,
on that wheel well chrome, go with lmc truck for that stuff. They have very good quality parts. I ordered a wheel well chrome strip from jcwhitney and it didnt want to fit good at all. I finally got it on, but it was a struggle. Also, jcwitney's peice didnt come with the rubber gasket either. good luck
My 96 has this rust on supension too the body and under carriage is clean I replaced the rear supports they were rusted thru the arms might need attention in the future but I gotta tell you my 72 truck has forged arms etc. the only reason i would replace them is if i abuse the truck or act of God ford dropped the ball on this item however i like the improvement on the cowl vent holes compared to my 72 which can get alot of tree junk trapped in the cowl space.
