started then died.

oops/ 90, 302.

i haven't run it for a while except to start a few times this winter. took about 10 seconds for it to start. ran rough. and died. started again with a little starter fluid. ran rough smoe more. lots of brown smoke. now it wont start

there's fuel pressure at the rail. i put some stuff to clear the water from the fuel tank. checked all the plugs to the coil and the distributor.

someone plz tell me how to test for spark. i've got the jumper thing hooks up to the starter relay to crank the starter. but don't remember how to hook it up.

edit: i forgot. the timing is also off. i had to take out the distributor to change the coil inside and the ignition module. i changed the ignition coil too. it ran then but was overheating and revving all over the place. so i changed the thermostat and the temp. sensor and put coolant but didnt drive it

21 cooling temperature sensor out of specified range or ECT out of range.
24 intake air charge temperature (ACT,IAT) sensor or Vane Air Temperature (VAT) sensor out of range

continuus memory

k suzie found my remote starter and spark tester thing. i plugged it onto the ignition wire that goes to the distributor, opened it all the way and had like a one inch long spark. checked the fuel pressure with the other thing it's 38-39 psi.

how far out of time is do you think it is off more than one tooth or 18 deg. if so you can move all the plug wires 1 spot ccw try it then i hadmy 91 jump time i had a hell of a time getting it to run again do you have a timing light if yoiu do id would be most helpful instead of tearing the front of the motor off i just timed it offf of cyl #4 btw 1 tooth an the timing gear is 3 spots on the dist.

i have a timing light. i thougth i had the distributor back in the same way because when i moved it off one tooth it was crooked enough i could tell and i moved it back. and i had it running then. but i never understood how it worked with the rotor so i guess i probably messed something up there.
