am i the only one who gets annoyed by this? it drives me crazy to see someone unload all their stuff, then sort of just "push" it to the side and drive off. do not think about these things rolling into another car? or they just not care? is it to hard to just put something back where it belongs?
i was visiting my mom in florida and we went to target, and sure enough, a cart goes flying across the lane and into a car, some lady was slowly walking "chasing" it, so i yelled at her about it to let off some steam and she gave me this bewildered look about it.
then the worst, my mom visiting us, we all go to wally world, we unload the basket, then my mom just pushes to the side and gets ready to leave!!!! i went crazy!! i asked her WTF, and she just responded that since ervyone else does, why not, so i pushed it back to the aprropriate place.
i really liked it when i was in the Navy getting to issue warnings and such for poeple leaving their carts outside the NEX, i always called it a road obstruction, the comand loved it also!.......how i wish i could do it now!!!
The way people drive here in FL, shopping carts are the least of our worries. There is a general lack of respect for others that seems to be permeating every aspect of life these days. How sad.
It annoys me to. Once I had a lady leave one a foot away from the curb at the front of the store. I ticked me off because I now couldn't make the turn without the back of the truck hitting it. Now normally I just use the truck to knock it out of the way but this time I parked right there, got out and put it in it's proper place, the whole time infuriating the lady who left it there and now couldn't back out because my truck was blocking her in. She gave me a dirty look and said I need to move as I was walking past to put the cart away. I just said that wasn't very nice or her to block the road by leaving her cart in the way for me and it would just take a moment out of her day to place it in the right spot.

Did you actually ask your mom this? Thats a rather rude thing to say to your mother.
Ha,ha,ha if I told my mom that she would knock 3 teeth down my throat and than tell me to mind my own freeking business. I usually leave the cart wherever it is when I am finished unloading it. I used to bother with bringing it to the buggy holds but stopped that when it ended up becoming more of a problem cause all the stores around heres employees are too damn lazy to come and retrieve the buggys and it ends up obstructing traffic after a while.

Sort of like throwing trash on the ground because the can is already full? If the cart corral isn't close by (within about twenty yards and I'll push over- think of it as a little more exercise), I at least prop it on the median so it won't roll into another car.
Goodie, I had the same thing happen to me at Wally World and did exactly the same thing you did. I was attempting to pull into a parking space when this lady parked a buggy right in middle of the stall. I stopped directly behind her. Shut the F150 down and proceeded to get the buggy and walk it, not to the storage area, but to the front door.
The lady driving the car went balistic. I mean, she even shocked a friend that was with me with her language. Then she made an off the wall comment that really blew my mind. I found out that she was a city cop.
OH JOY JOY. I just could not resist it. I called the city police and requested that the commanding officer be dispatched, meanwhile, I did not move, while waiting on them.
Upon the arrival of the CO, this lady cop's attitude completely changed. She attempted to have the CO arrest me, but little did I know, my friend had recorded the whole thing on his mp3 player. After playing back the recording, I watched the lady slowly slink back to her car. The CO wanted to know if I wanted to do anything. I told him no, that I had enough enjoyment at making her look like an *** over a shopping buggy and for him to have a good day. He quickly got into his cruiser and rolled the window up. I swear he had tears rolling down his face he was laughing so hard.
I probally made an enemy of the city cop, but I smile every time I see her. I don't have the Red F150 anymore. I pity the person that bought it and gets stopped by her.
I don't know if you guys have a aldi's, but their idea is pretty cool.
ALL of the carts are in the front of the store, why? Because to use a cart at their store, you must put a quater into this little thing on the side, that chains it to the other carts. You can't get your quater back, until you put the cart back, and put the chain back in to push your quater out.
Pretty sweet idea.
I usually always put the carts back, every now and then, I must confess, I get lazy, usually on really cold or rainy days. But most of the time I do.
I also had a guy at wal-mart tell me I was taking away his job by putting my cart back, I don't know how true that was.
Leaving shopping carts in the middle of the parking lot is definitely annoying. I learned a long time ago to park well away from everyone else. Hell, if nothing else, forcing myself to make the longer walk is only doing me a bit of good.
Another one of my peeves are the people that open up their car/truck doors and empty their fast food bag/cup, garbage, or ashtray in a parking lot.

Next time I go to Wal-Mart I will take pictures so that you can see what I am talking about better. The cart corrals are FULL. Noone picks them up. I am not as lazy as to not want to walk twenty feet but than what would the point be, park my buggy to farther obstruct my exit? Also, if I came across a public trash can and it was full I would place my trash on top and whatever the wind does with it is none of my concern, want to keep the city clean? Than empty the damn trash cans.
Not to hijack this thread about shopping carts, but this is another example of people and their disrespect for other people's property.
I have an old land yacht. It is a 1976 LTD Brougham that still looks sharp for its age. It is not rusted and the paint is in very good shape. While waiting for the daughter to get out of Wally World one day, this huge lady pulled up beside of me in her caddy and proceeded to slam her door into the side of my car, making quite a dent. When I ask her what she was going to do about the damage she just did, she told me to go (you know what word goes here) myself. Well, that two door has really heavy doors on it and since I was going to have to fix it anyway, I though, why not. She got out of her car, still mouthing off and was standing at the front of her car. I pulled down a little, opened my door, put my foor against it and slammed it into the door of the caddy. The door caved in so far that the door glass exploded fell on the asphalt. I then proceeded to drive away. It did not hurt the door on the LTD. While driving away, I called my daughter and told her to meet me at the auto parts door, meanwhile this huge lady was chasing me across the parking lot.
I bet she does not open her door into anymore cars.
