Axle swap
I've got a '75 F100 4x4. The front Dana 44 has drum brakes. A subscriber has a 44 out of a '75 F250 with discs ($400). Is this an easy swap, or should I look for another axle from an F100/150?

Hello. I don't know what parts you would have to swap to do this, but the F-250 will be an 8-lug axle, and yours is only a 5 lug. It may be easier to just swap an axle from the 1/2 ton truck into yours. If you are near Massachusetts, I've even got one to get rid of. Good luck.

Greg- the thing to do is find a disk brake truck in the salvage yard, 76 or newer, and get everything from the ball joints out. Stick with the 1/2 ton stuff. Your friends f250 stuff will fit on, but then you have 8 lugs in front and five in back and you'd have to buy some new rims. You may want to measure the disk diameters of both 1/2 and 3/4 ton, I don't know if mix and match is possible, but if it is,some of the 3/4's have bigger calipers, if you are needing more stop power.
