Radiator Replacement
I decided to replace the radiator on my 1974 F100 with a 360 2V engine, D2TEAA heads.
The old rad had D3HA-AHA part number.
I called two different retail parts store and got the same answer, they told me I needed a part # 433433 for this truck. I bought the new rad and when I get home it does not fit the mounting holes in the truck. New rad is to wide.
I took new rad back along with the old one to match up.
The only new rad they had was a 433395 part number that matched my mounting holes. This new 433395 is associated with the 302 engine for this year truck. The next problem was the 433395 rad has 1 1/2 inch inlet and 1 3/4 inch outlet. The D3HA-AHA old rad has 1 3/4 inlet and 2 inch outlet.
The manager suggested I take the new rad and the old rad to a shop and have them swap the old inlet and outlet to the new rad.
Why could I not get an exact replacement for my application?? I used flex hoses, upper has 1 3/4 inch on one end and 1 1/2 on the other. Lower hose has 1 3/4 on one end and 2 inch on the other. Now I wonder about reduced flow into the smaller inlet and outlet of the 433395 as it was the only rad to fit my truck.
Did I have some strange built Ford radiator, a 302 F100 chassis front end with a 360 build sheet, or had someone taken a 302 radiator to a shop and swap the inlet and outlet to match the thermostat and water pump on a 360 back in the day?? I am the second owner of this truck and the original onwer said he bought it from a Ford Motor Company Dealer (Brandywine Ford in Delaware) with a 360 2V.
