Well here it is... i am finally starting my long awaited dream.. my frame up cust/resto.... i purchased my '70 f-100 2wh a year ago and have gathered up/put on good sheet metal and some goodies.. as well as a 5.8L windsor our of a e/class '84van.. it's a stock 4bbl. is that considered an H.O.??? and runs really hot... i love it.. i have located an acutally perfect '70 1/2tn 4x4 frame that consists of it and both axles and i'm told 3.50 gearing and an already converted powersteering box.... for $400 bucks... the frame is untouched and already w/out sheetmetal and drivetrain.... my supplier also has a newer trans/205transfer that i'll get for $300. and it's still together and really clean off of a mid '70s 4x.. sorry.. heres my questions..

1.would this possably be a dana axle/how do i check..
2. the trans is (i'm sorry for not knowing the name..) the one with the clip on the shifter, not the screw in top.. all i know is this is the better one and i want it.... but.. is the gearing in it different that what's in my original trans../ ( no granny gear????)) i remember driving my uncles '78 half ton 4x4 and if felt more like a plain 4sp than a granny.. that is what i want..this truck will be a daily driver and not much pulling and only utility trailers and snomachines and the ever present broke/stuck chevy out in the middle of nowhere!!! ha ha thats why i will have the 2sp transfer case and locking hubs.. the only way to go..
3. i read an article RE.. "gas tank" from 02/12/00 that mentioned a mustang tank mod.. i was wondering if it had been completed by SKIP4274...and how it went...
4. after I sandblast the frame.. what is the best to apply to the bare frame for a protective coat.. something that will last and really stand up and is jet black..
5.can i install a 1/2ton disc brakes up front from a later year 4x to mine and how hard.. along w/power brakes if possible.
the plan is to buy the fram/trans.. park it and work on it while i drive my 2x... all wisdom/advice and 2cents will be more than appreciated. you guys are great this page is more than the best.. keep it coming and GO FORD..

thede- Yes you have a dana 44 front and ford 9incher in the back for axles, good stuff. The NP205 case will do you fine. Don't know about that trans, use the site search and read stockmans Toms stuff on transmissions, he has pictures of the NP and the T18/19. For Disks, you should be able to swap from the ball joints out using pieces from a 76 or newer staight axle ford. DF
