I've been thinking about this for a while now and wanted the FTE community thoughts.
I'm an army brat, and IMO all millitary members, past and present, should recieve a discount where ever they shop, wheather it be 5%, 10%, whatever, just to show support towards our service members.
Maybe this is because I've been involved with the military since I was born.
What is everybody elses thoughts. NO ARGUING WITH OTHERS BECAUSE OF THEIR THOUGHTS
as former Navy, just got out after 9 years, i always seen it in real heavy military communities, though not always advertised. i really feel it should be up to the individual business. some businesses, especially small ones, may already be operating at a cut rate just to get by as it is. other larger one's may not either just because or they feel they have contributed in other ways but its just not advertised or they just don't do it.
but i don't think there is anything inherently wrong or unpatriotic if a business gives a discount or not to military members. if a business does and the other doesn't, well then that is freedom of choice for military members to do their business with that company that offers the discount.
I remember when a local Fudruckers had a 50% military discount. So many took advantage of it, didn't last long. I made good money when I was in. A discount would be a nice perk, but really not necessary.
My Brother-in-law has been in the Canadian Air Force for over 20 years. Half his career was spent around the Bay area in Cali and up in Alaska. With the exchange rate they more than qualified for food stamps.
