I set the parking brake pretty hard a few weeks back and the pedal made a loud bang. The pedal mechanism is two stamped out plates two that are sort of "riveted" together. The bang was at least two of those rivets coming loose. This let the cable fall in between the two plates and get crooked. It still worked so I ignored it. Yesterday the lead ball broke off the end of the cable. I have a new cable on the ordered, and plan to weld the rivets but I was wondering if anybody has some tips on removing the pedal assembly so I can repair it? It looks like I will need to take out the computer. Anybody got any tips?
It may be his 99 listed in his sig,I would not weld the bracket in place.get somebody from a body shop to pop 2 new big rivets in place for you after replacing the front cable. You remove the bracket by drilling the rivets out.

Sorry for the confusion, the whole unit needs to be removed so it can be welded. It is bolted to the truck behind the computer. It's hard to explain the rivets I'm talking about.
The assembly looks like two halves, one half has a few punched out holes and the other half has a few "tubes" that fit into the holes. Then the tubes were deformed to hold the two halves together. I was towing a heavy trailer and needed to park on a hill so I really set the brake hard and it separated two halves.
Welding it in the truck is out of the question because it's only a inch away from the computer, and I try not to weld under dashes and such.
Anyways I was wondering If any one has removed the e brake pedal assembly before.
vancouverpower, aka superman.
I done them on the 1995 ford truck, it had 2 bolts, brake light harness, and the e-cable. I have not done them on the newer trucks.
