Does anybody know if there is any way to super charge a 300. I would like the extra power without the turbo lag so a super charger is supose to be better in that way even though you don't get the max performance because it uses power from the motor instead of exhaust. I just don't want to lose the ability to powerbrake my 33 in bfg mud terrains. I want enough power to go ahead and turn them in third gear instead of secound. I have been able to pull third when its very slick and it works very good.
This subject has been beat to death. IMO it's not worth it.. You don't get "max performance" from a SC, it uses power from the crank to spin it where as a turbo doesn't.
A SC makes alot more power, than it will ever pull from your engine, thats not an issue, My question is, with the price of 33 inch bf's, why would you be trying to burn them off? Tires, and sc aren't cheap, you must be loaded, or just don't know yet! Anywho, I don't know of any sc for the 300, there are tunner shops now days that can costum build turbo's for about anything, but again, this stuff ain't cheap!
My tires I got used from a friend for 50 bucks. They where just about shot when I got them so why not. I am in the process of buying a new set of mud kings because they are the cheapest I can get, and know I am not rich. I am down right pour. I just think its cool that a truck with 380,101 miles will still burn'em!
u want ur cake and eat it to, huh? why do u wanna break the tires loose in third? its a truck and its silly to do this...the amount of stress u place in the drivetrain is phenominal...
also, there are no current supercharger or turbocharger kits avaible.
I was young once, so I understand where your comming from. Your options for the 300 are limited however. Your cheapest route may be to swap in a 460, L&L products sell 460 installation kits, plus headers and stuff. The web site is www.landproducts.com. And while your gathering up your parts for the swap, your 300 will serve you quit well, so well as of a matter of fact, you may change your mind. Clifford perfornance has performance parts for the 300, you may want to go that route, no sc, or turbo's though. Good luck!
I'm 46, and have a mooded truck, and I still rip the bag once in a while, but I try and babey my bf's, there costly boggers, and they get beat enuogh on the trail.
There is / was a company out in California called Clifford. There motto was 6 = 8. They did have an intake manifold and exhaust system that bolted up a 4-71 blower. I was looking into that years back for a 250 six chevy that I had in a 72 Nova. They had the same setup for the Ford six. I don't know if there in business anymore.
you will pay for their services, they also have a blueprintted head that coupled with their intake and cam is supposed to net 60% increase in TQ and HP. But they want a grand for it. I am in the process of building a 4V head for the 300, using special Y rockers on different rocker shafts to be cast here at UABs casting lab, should be interesting.
Do a search of the 300 forum, lots of stuff in here if you take the time to read it. I was trying to find a really good one I was reading a couple weeks ago, but got lazy. Here's a pic to keep you interested - https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...?&albumid=2083
Do a search for "supercharged" or "supercharger", tons of info. Now only if you could stuff one of those in an Econoline...
the site for Clifford is www.cliffordperformance.net Don't be discouraged man. Alot of the people that are telling you you are wasting your time/ money are the same ones who said the same thing to me. Vortech makes centrifugal superchargers for the 5.0, as well as other engines (not the 300 though). They are about $3500 for everything (mounting brackets, SC, intercooler, intake tubes, etc.) The main thing you have to realize is when you do something like this, there is alot of other stuff you need to do. Generally speaking, you can't just bolt on a turbo or supercharger. I have looked into alot of the performance upgrades for my 300. Check out www.summitracing.com, the Clifford site I listed above, and www.fordsixparts.com. Don't lose hope, and remember the old saying "You get what you pay for.", because you are going to pay a pretty penny to beef up a 300.
