and we all know ur mentality...

Clifford is a rip off. they offer sub par parts now at days with poor customor service. oh and "check out summitracing.com" doesnt help the person much...thats like saying u can get milk at a grocery store...kinda vauge.

best bet is turbocharging the 300, which can be done with less hassle than a supercharger. there was one person i can recall who used a procharger on a 95 F150 and said for the work done is was a disappointment.

but honestly, is there any need to "bark em in third" besides to show off? im not saying building a 300 up is stupid...its the reason i question. im all for hot rodded trucks but acting like a jackass isnt cool. power braking is horrifically hard on the drivetrain and IT WILL break parts.

I don't think supercharging is an all out waste. The problem is that one really needs to have an assembled motor on a stand to work with for a while. A blown engine is going to require a lot of the same equipment regardless of how it's blown. I was toying with this idea of supercharging a 300 while I was working at Vortech last summer. Unfortunately, as many of us know there's nothing that's just going to bolt on AND good luck finding someone that knows how the 300 will respond given a specific cam, compression, VE, and trim. I think the biggest challenge to putting on a blower is just getting the blower on the motor (if were talking about a centrifugal). Most of the Vortech kits involve scrapping the stock bracketry and bolting one new plates, spacers and brackets to accomodate the blower. From my early planning stages (which never came to fruition), it made most sense to use a serpintene setup and plan on mounting the blower in the AC compressor vicinity. After I carefully considered the work it makes most sense to me go with a turbo and skip all the bracketry work. Both turbo or super blowers are going to be about the same cost, yet I admit the supercharger unit would be easiest to adjust or remove if it fails.

And while your gathering up your parts for the swap, your 300 will serve you quit well, so well as of a matter of fact, you may change your mind. Clifford perfornance has performance parts for the 300, you may want to go that route, no sc, or turbo's though. Good luck!
Is a 460 a 460CID V8??

Has anybody done a turbodiesel swap?

Yes it is. Torque monster, Makes what the 300 makes, and then makes more as the rev goes up...

Ooh.
What are they sourced from and what do they cost? Will a stock AOD C-transmission take it? (though I imagine a floor-mount 5-speed would be loads more fun)

I know a c-6 will take it, they used 460's up till 96 in 3 quarter ton's, so what ever trannys they put behind them should be good, auto or manual.

So I would source a 460 (or a 6.7 turbo diesel maybe? hehe) from like a F350 or E350 superduty? I'm not really sure what car you guys get 460's from.

In the 70's you could get a 460 ia ltd, thunder bird, couger, ranchero, and I am sure there are some others that Iv'e forgotten about. In the 80's, and 90's, it was trucks, or vans the best I recall.
