I think I'm going to trim some of the weatherstripping at the front of the door and see if that helps.
Leckhart- The PO gave a set of weatherstrippings that he purchased when he owned the truck. I have no idea where he bought them from. They look like the original once piece kits sold at Mid Fifties, etc. If this method doesn't work, I'm not out any money and I'll pull them off and do the PepBoys route and see how that works.
I'm can tell you guys I'm feeling better about not being able to install the weatherstripping hearing the horror stories you guys are having. We have to find a simple way of doing this! LOL
The W/S I replaced the desicated 1's w/ were a Set that are a Charcole Grey & rather malable that Father purchased, he doesn't remember where.
As I stated before the only trouble w/ them was a fault on my part when I didn't remove the Passenger Door in order to apply the adhesive along w/ the W/S & then when I did remove the Drivers Door as It was Bleedin' heavy & I needed help w/ lefting it.
I've done two 56 trucks and the first was a little challenging, but the second went vey smooth. I installed the rubbers with the doors already on the truck. I'm not understanding your troubles when it went rather well for me.
OK, I shaved the weatherstripping on the front portion of the door. The door now shuts, however will not close completely regardless how hard I slam or push on the door. I've come to the conclusion that the weatherstripping is too thick. Undecided what I'll do now??????
Ed, it sounds like it's time to pull it off and try again. The rubbers on my doors were several years old and still in the plastic bags when I bought the truck. They sat is my garage for another year until after Teddy was painted. They were made by Dennis Carpenter and the doors shut fine. Good luck, Jag
