Hey i was wondering if a ford e4od will work in a truck that had a a4od in it. What would i have to do to make it work. Im pretty sure it will bolt up to the motor but what wireing would i have to add to the a4od truck. By the way the truck with the a4od is a 93 2wd f150 and the other truck is a 94 4wd f150 both with 302s. I am going to use the 94 for truck as a donner truck to make the 93 truck 4wd if the tranny will work, so i will have the wireing harness for the e4od. Also does anyone have a opinion about which tranny is better?
thanks
john
The E4 tranny needs the computer in order to control the shift points so a direct swap would not be unless you planned on changing the computer and wiring along with the tranny.
ok thanks. i thought that i would most likely have to swap the computers as well and all the wireing that went along with the tranny. i also herd somthing about a PCM and swaping that too but i dont know what that is. Can u help me out there too?
thanks
John
The PCM is the Powertrain Control Module. It is the computer that runs the engine and transmission. You need one that matches both the engine and the transmission.
if u look at the page that has all the different topics on it towards the top right and bottom right u will see the page numbers that u can click on. to the left of them is a little thing that says "New Topic" click that and then u should be able to figure it out from there.
On my 64 Ford F100 pickup, the previous owner tightened the nut holding the front wheel bearing on too tight, and the bearing disintegrated, chewing up the bolt threads in the process. I now need a new, (is it called a spindle?) with the bolt threads to hold the bearing in. Been having a hard time finding a 64. Are any other year's spindle interchangeable with a 64? Somebody else said to just get the bolt on as best as possible, and spot weld it there.
