I've searched the forum and i've read about different locations to mount aftermarket gauges.
I'm wanting to get a trans temp gauge (probably Autometer) and possibly a real engine temp gauge.
I've seen different "descriptions" of mounts on these forums.
Column mount - I assume that mounts on the steering column...don't like that location.
Pilar mount - I assume that mounts on the left side pilar by the handle grip...do you get to retain the handle grip and do the mounts come in tan?
Windshield mount - Huh?
Cubby? (saw that one in the F250 room)
I do NOT have the overhead console meter or compass and it appears that the plastic "Excursion" thingy could pop out...is that an option for gauge mounts? It is out of the way though...
And I assume good old "L" type bracket mounts anywhere I could find a spot?
What have you guys done and where is a nice spot to tuck in some gauges...I could go to just one and that would be the trans temp gauge...I don't want it to look "stuck" on anywhere.
If you look at the link in my sig it shows were and how I mounted mine, on the Piller. Most mounts come black and then you paint them with interior spray paint to match. If you mount them on the pillar and have the grab handle you have to remove the handle because the gauge pillar mounts over the stock cover.
Did you get the mount from Autometer as well? I currently have my prodigy brake controller where you mounted your gauges...I could relocate the prodigy...does this type of mount come in 1 and 2 gauge setups as well?
I still go back to that overhead lie-o-meter that i DON'T have...does anyone make any mounts for that area?
Also I have the area where the F250's have the brake commander...I do NOT have anything there...is there a mount to fit that area?
My three gauge underdash mount is made by Autometer. If you want to go with the overhead console location, Autometer makes 2, 3, and 4 gauge pods for overhead consoloe mount. They come in black - unpainted. I matched up some paint for mine. Check out the Autometer web site or check with a dealer - they should be able to hook you up.

I would suggest seriously considering the pillar mount. My reasoning? Keep your eyes on the road as much as possible. Think about the amount of time it takes to look to the bottom of the dash and adjust for the darkness, or whatever the condition is. If you look at the pillar, it's right there, then back to the road. I had them on my last dually and that's the ONLY place I would mount them. Just my opinion.
There are Apillar mounts, Under dash mounts, overhead over the windshiled rear view mirror mounts, dash top mounts, dash cluster mounts etc etc we stock them all and can advise you what's best for you if you want to give us a call. One day I added them all up and you could get 18 or 19 different gauges in all the various mounts in a Super Duty!
