OK Guys and Gals. I know I haven't posted in a while, just have been busy trying to end the finances of last year.
Anyway! My friends 99 PSD is pulling a trouble code 1396. I have looked it up in my diagnostic reader and it indicates Glow Plug Monitor Fault. I have been able to clear the code, but in short time it comes back. I thought it might be a soft code, so I removed the negative cable from the battery to no avail the SES comes right back. What is a hopefully easy way to fix this problem.
I have a '99 as well and the glow plug wiring under the valve cover was rubbing on the push rod. It fried the connector in the engine wiring harness as well as the valve cover gaskets.
Here's the thread with some pictures.
Wow!! Good post Kwik. I was hoping you would reply. Great thread too. I printed it and will dispatch this to my friend. He is not too mechanically inclined so I am guessing I an in for an evening under the hood. Thanks Again
OK. I talked to my friend yesterday as well as reset the SES again. His truck has dosen't seem to have any fault in the running charactoristics, it is just pulling the same code as mentioned. Hey Nut, what resistance should I expect, or will I just compare one to another. GPCM, Glow Plug ???? Modual?.

U should see less that 1 ohm typical on all GP's. GPCM=Glow Plug Control Module. No GPR(Glow Plug Relay).
Nut
Bingo! Got it. It's still early here on the West Coast. Thanks Nut
My ACTRON says it is on the right bank so I am guessing that it could be either a glow plug or as Kwik mentioned the wiring. Either way I will have to remove the valve cover and do some inspecting. Thanks to you all
