The back-up sensor on my 03 V-10 X has stopped working. If you jimmy around trying to turn it off and on, it may stay on for a bit but turns off as soon as you put the trans in reverse.
I checked for debris in the bumper mounted sensors, found nothin, and stopped there.
Mine also stays on-none of the beeps to a solid alarm anymore. I am also curious about what can go wrong with these sensors.??? Most of the time works as should. everynow and again will just not function properly.
Thanks for some input!!!
It is a bad sensor. There are several threads on here discussing it. I had the exact same problems and replaced the one bad sensor. No more issues after that.
easiest way, buy another sensor and replace one at a time until you find the right one. doesnt take too long. or i believe you could have the stealer scan it ($) and tell you which one.

Maccoupler is correct.
And my Ford dealer tried to charge me $100 to diagnose which sensor was bad until I fussed a bit and told them that I (or they) could just as easily do what Maccoupler suggested above. The Ford dealership's whole rap is that the diagnostic equipment cost tens of thousands of dollars. The service manager eventually said they would test it for free since I was buying the sensor from their parts dept. And I had and was having other work done.
Oh...and then they told me they would have to take the bumper off to get to the sensors and charge me 1 hour labor. Again, I rebutted that there was an easier approach. You can just carefully reach under the bumper and remove the sensor (I knew this from reading this forum not from experience).
They did it my way (service manager approval) and I saved the 1 hour labor charge. I think the sensor itself was around $70 or so from Ford.
