does anyone know where to find new box skins (side panels) for a '73-'79 Ford SHORTBOX? No one in my area has them or knows where to get them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Cory have you checked with a local body shop? If you have a wrecked truck, it might be easier to grab a used bed. It's only 8-10 bolts to change out, and two men can easily lift it off and on.

In the still cool hours of the night,
you can hear chevys rusting away.
Caution about the 'NEW' body panels. I checked with one place (PAW in Pacific northwest), they are thin import stuff. The factory Ford stuff is MUCH better quality and thicker. Ask someone that's used the thin import parts, they don't like them.
I have tried to find used bix and the only one I have been able to find was a used '78 stepside and the guy wanted $1200.00 bucks! I need to find a fleetside but there are none anywhere in my area. And yes the last time I seen used shortbox bed sides up for sale they were $650 USD a peice. I think I might have to go with the el-cheapo import stuff.
Once in a while I see ads for a company in Iowa that sells
boxes and any other body part you need. They buy trucks from
Texas and dismantle them. I found a rust free box from Texas.
My friend and I drove from Illinois to Texas to pick it up.
That might be the way to go.
