My brother -in-law has a 79 F-150 4x4. On the front axle the bracket that holds the track bar? (keeps the axle centered when you have coil springs), is worn out. It's not just the bushing, but the steel part. Anybody know of a fix?
OK, on one end (the axle end) you have a bushing attached to the axle with a giant bolt. If the bolt is worn out, get a new one.
On the other end you have a bracket attached to the frame with the same bolts that attach the shock tower. If the bracket itself is worn, get a replacement one from any number of sources. If the attachment between the bracket and frame is loose, first try tightening the bolts. If this doesn't work, or doesn't work for long, a plate will have to be fabricated to strengthen the frame in that area.
