1976 Ford F150 with the 300cu.in. 6cyl
It has a 4spd manual with a granny first gear.
Which trans is this? Ford used a couple different 4spds then. I also need to locate a service manual. The gearbox is leaking / has leaked out a fair amount of fluid. It probably needs to have all the gearbox lub replaced period but before I go turning wrenches I want to make sure I'm turning drain and fill plugs and not idler gear shaft locater bolts.

If your tranny has an aluminum top cover then it is most likely a new process 435. One of the board members (stockman) has an excelent web site that will help you figure out what tranny you have. Or if you know the tranny is originally from that truck as well as the doors check the drivers side door and there will be a metal tag there with that VIN # and write down all the info from that tag and there is a VIN decoder in the tech article section on the main page of this web site. I hope this helps you out.
