safe EGT's

I'm running my truck with a 40hp superchip (engine marked 225hp stock). i have a pyrometer probe placed post turbo. at what temp should i start to worry (and back out of it). seem to have a tough time getting the guage over 600* unless im really into it.

I forgot to tell the shop where to install the prob and they put it post turbo also. They told me try not to go above 900*-950*. I've hit 1100*-1200* only for seconds at a time and I had my turbo off a couple of weeks ago with no bad signs, it still looked good. Hope this helps ya.

i would move it pre turbo into the exhaust manifold. but your readings sound fine. sounds like you have not really got it over 1000* actual. the word for post turbo is not to take it over 900*.

ive run mine up to 1300 for 5-6 minutes on the big hills with no ill effect, but i say 1300 is the safe limit. the pistons melt at about 1600 degrees and thats gonna be the first to go. you gonna melt down pistons 1st then exaust valves. it just trashes turbos at that point due to all the garbage that gets thrown into it.
