I'm in the process of putting in the PIE adapter for AUX in for my audiophile radio. The instructions say to connect the wire to a permanent power source. I was thinking about just hooking it up to the wire that supplies the cigarette lighter. Is that going to work or is there a better way?
Also, ground, just find a piece of chassis inside the dashboard and connect to that?
Any ideas would be appreciated!
When I installed mine I tapped into the both the hot and ground of the cig lighter for the PIE unit. You could also ground it on any of the metal frame work behind the dash and it will work. System works great, good luck.
I picked up the hot and ground at the radio plug. The wires are matched to the same color in the plug.
I just removed the covering,(do not cut the wire, just remove about a 1/2" of the outer cover of each wire), and wrap each wire with the lead from the PIE. Then solder and tape each one individually.
Your way will work just as fine also. No special skills involved either way.
System works and sounds GREAT.
