speed o Cable

When I put a different tranny in my 76 I got the tranny out of I believe a 1980 ford truck, now the hole where the speed cable goes is different its smaller than the hole before, now my question if I go out and get one the fits on the transmission side will it hook up under my dash or are the ends different? Thanks for the help

I would think the speedo head connection would be the same

I ran into this problem when I did my tranny swap. You might need to have a custom speedo cable fabricated. The company that did mine is located in Portland Oregon. Tell them what you have and measure the length and they will make it and ship next day. They did a real nice job on mine. Their number is 1-800-634-2145 Speedometer service of Portland

so your saying the end that hooks up to the guage itself there is a difference from a 70 model to an 80 model?

I said I think the speedo head connectors are the same on the 80's trucks.

I now have to go check.

ok thanks Mil1ion I couldnt get a good look at the picture, my best bet will be to just get to the junk yard and take a look and see, all I have to do is find the right size that goes in the transmission.
