Hey Everyone,
I just rebuilt my C6 and put in a wide ratio gear set. Everything runs great except that it doesn't want to shift from second to third real well, and in city driving it wants to kick down to second with almost no throttle at all??
Highway driving it works just fine, in all regards.
What might cause it to act funny in the city?
Thanks
I'd agree with Stuart, either a vacuum issue or the modulator isn't adjusted properly.
Also, have you checked the adjustment on the kickdown rod/cable yet?
Honestly, I didn't know the kickdown could be adjusted...I'll look into that. I need to hook up the meter to the vaccum hose and see what I'm pulling. To adjust the modulator, would I want to go in further with the screw, or back out for this problem?
Okay, after playing with it quite a bit, I finally have it just where I want it! It's amazing what a difference a rebuilt tranny makes. I have lost about 500 RPM on the highway! It must have really been slipping before the rebuild. But a new torque converter and the rebuild fixed it.
Thanks
It ended up being the vaccum modulator...It was screwed in as far as it could go. Came that way in the kit. I guess I thought it would be pre adjusted to a mid range or something, but thats a stupid assumption. It was crazy though, if I just touched the gas enough to go from a coast to barely powered, it kicked down, then you would hit a slight downward slop in the road and it would slam back to 3rd.
Anyway, it's really nice now, firm but smooth shifts.
Thanks again for the help everyone!
