Ring mount .50 on a 5 ton. 106 recoilless on a mule. ooh rahh! m79. Some pieces are just too cool to forget! That slow constant boom of the 50. I had never seen a M16 till the first time I went overseas. All I had ever shot was 14's. Cake at 600+. oh yeah! The 60 is fast but it rattles too much. Like the 16. Always sounds loose. Not solid. And when you hit some... Time to stop.

Ah give me a break, firefighters and paramedics don't fight terrorists.

Just kidding, I have respect for anyone who does public works.

As a former member of the Air Force, let me salute the firefighters, policemen, and paramedics. Your contributions are great and many.

USMC 4 years in and out, as I felt I owed it to this great nation . I feel everyone should do some time in the service . I salute all our soliders .I hate to think how we would be living right now if it was not for all our veterans. . Please make it a point to remember us veterans on Memorial Day and Veterans Day
All gave some
Some gave all

Thumbs up Military!!!

Navy guy here, 1986-89 USS Iowa Right gun Captain Turret Three
We cover your aft!!!! 16 " 50 caliber three gun turret.
I crossed the equator, (Shellback), the Artic Circle (Blue Nose) and went through the Suez twice. I was in the Persian Gulf when Reagan reflagged the
tankers. As was said before, no one had enough ***** to attack us then.
Quadaffi had a line of death, but the US Navy crossed it!
I'm proud of my time in. My Dad flew in the Navy in the late 50's out of New Foundland. I had a three great uncles who were in the USN during the WW2. One having the USS Astoria shot out from underneath him.
Go USN!!! Four years and a Good Conduct Medal!!!!
I work in a Ophthalmology office and always thank our vets for their contribution to our country. Most laugh because they have never been thanked.
God Bless America!!!!

Also had a Great Uncle in the USN during WWII. Joined when he was 16 (fibbed about his age) USS Santa Fe, Never once hit in the war, called the lucky lady. Was at Guadel Canal, Iwo Jima, and landed at Nagasaki three weeks after they dropped the bomb. Man does he have some stories. They saved a Aircraft Carrier Franklin, by latching along side after it was hit by two bombs. Franklin was going to capsize, so they used the Santa Fe as a counter weight to keep it up. Also they helped fighting the fire aboard the Franklin. He operated the 5" guns along the side of the boat. Forgot his rank. Grandfather served in the Guard as a cook during the Korean war. Before them my great great grandfather and uncle fought in the civil war. Original imigrant family members fought in the revolutionary war in North Carolina before moving to Tennessee.

God bless every man and woman who has ever served our country

In addition to my own Naval service, my uncle was an Air Force vet, after he died my wife and I raised his kids - they have two veteran dads! My dad was Army National Guard, I think he was avoiding Nam. Grampa was a WWII era navy vet, great great grampa was a Union soldier in the Civil War including Sherman's "March to the sea". There were a number of Revolutionary War vets hangin out way up there in the family tree too.

I also have relatives who fought in the Civil War, a drummer boy from Pa. Some other relatives that were at the Copse of trees at Gettysburg. A relative also fought in the Revolutionary War. He was a real Rebel, an Earl of Bathurst fighting against the Crown! How do I know this? My great grandmother was in the DAR, and chats with uncles and my Dad's Cousins.
Pass it on so your kids know where they came from...

Jeff

I'm sorry, You live in Clarksville I'm guessing?

I lived in Hopkinsville for a long 6 years. I'm so glad I got out of there. Of course I had to move to Michigan to do it, but I'll deal with the cold.

Congrats on your commission. Hope your a good officer.

o ya its backwoods and boring. but out in the country parts, like Adams(just outside of clarksville) its very pretty. i just don't like the narrow minded ways people think around here.

Not being commissioned till i finish college though. a couple friends are enlisted and waiting graduation from highschool. This is my HS senior year.

i too hope i am a good officer, from what Col. says by the way i can get the freshman to respect me and i'm not a by the book person, i kinda listen to people, but he says i will be. Thanks
