Lowering 77 F150

Looking into lowering my 77 F150. Wanted to see what others have done. I did a search and found some older posts but wanted to see if any new thoughts have popped up.

looking at installing hangers and shackles for 4" drop in the rear. And I'm looking at AIM beams for the front (they're about $50 cheaper than DJM).

Wanted to know about this install, do you need to shim the rear for pinion angle. What needs to be done to the front besides the beams to maintain proper camber in the front. Looks like with the AIM beams you have to order a tie rod mount, are the DJM beams the same?

Any info or tips would be great.

I did what your talking about with AIM parts. If you search my post and use the advance search option you may be able to find all I have said in the past.

I had trouble with the caster on one side and had an adjustment cam added to fix it. I had to shorten the driveshaft in the back and my "U" joint angles are very small.

I was not impressed with AIM quality but I made it work. I don't think you can bend the DJM bars to set camber so that eliminated them for me. I also replaced all the rubber bushings with poly units.

It tends to be a big job with one thing leading to another.

Why would you need to bend the DJM beams? They come already set-up for the amount of drop the give. I would go DJM over AIM. I have not heard good things about AIM's quality. I have never heard anything bad about DJM. I will probably be going this route in the summer unless I just bight the bullet and go MII suspension from fatmanfab.

The beams don't come "aligned" . If you cannot bend the beam you cannot properly align the front end. There are many variables such as tire size actual ride height etc.

DJM must have camber info about the Dream Beams... Very hard to find a place that can bend factory I Beams, in my experience (actually, impossible to find, so far)

Drop them an email and see what they say... Do your research now, so you know what you are up against. They also have pdf instructions, but I don't recal any info on camber angles... I'm sure they must be setup for propr camber already? By gosh, they better be, for the price!
