My friend from work burned me a copy of a computer program and I can't make it auto run or setup. He included some thing called "Daemon Tools" and I thought that was to open the files with but I can't figure it out. The Daemon tools installed fine and left me with yet another tool bar but I still can't run the program. One file says it is a "bin file" and the other says it is a "cue file". The bin file is 691 mb and is a read only. the cue file is 74 bytes and is also a read only. I have tried right clicking and opening them with every progam option thats listed . Any ideas? Thank in advance!
I believe Daemon Tools is a disk image emulator for the Windows system. It allows people to save files, images, software, games as images as opposed to the actual file, thus reduces size. It basically saves a ghost type copy of an entire program as opposed to taking up major disk size. You can get away with carrying tons of stuff on one disk. For example my Adobe Suite was like 6 disks, you can compress them into one.
When you set it up its like a spyware/adware which is probably why you have the toolbar. If you go into Start/settings/control panel/add remove programs. You should be able to locate where the toolbar add on was and delete it.
What type of software is it that you got and are trying to install. Alot of cracked software is tricky to get going, since it is not registered. I've run stuff like this before (not anymore) and there are weird program files to run, hacks or what not. It sounds like you added the Daemon Tools program (which you can create other CDS/DVDS of other programs and burn) but not the other. Some programs don't run cuz' they see that you have that software and it technically is a copyright breaker.
Your file might have been compressed into a winrar file which you can open by getting winrar at www.download.com
it's supposed to be an autocad type program ... I just wanted it to draw up a shed Iwant to build in my back yard( need a place to work on my 54 f100, had to turn the garage into a bed room) Ididn't relize it would be so hard to set up the program - should stick with paper and pencil!
Hmm...wonder what it is. There are a million AutoCAD type programs. I teach a few of the real ones. I bet downloads.com has a few smaller ones that would do what you need.
For anyone who wants a cheap AutoCAD program try IntelliCAD,http://www.intellicadms.com/. I bought their $50 program a couple of months ago and I really like it. I was using AutoCAD 13 up to last December when my computer got infected with a virus and I had to buy a new one and couldn't transfer my AutoCAD program. The IntelliCAD program is almost identical with AutoCAD which costs around $2000, for the simplest version, AutoCAD LT is about $800. I use AutoCAD drawings for my business on a daily bassis. I receive and send .dwg files to and from all of my customers and never have a problem opening the latest .dwg drawings.
For $50 it will pay for itself. You'd be surprised how much you use it once you have it. Whenever I built something the first thing I do is draw it. The drawings will give you all the dimensions and angles you need. No more guessing, it's a real time saver. If you haven't used a drawing program before there is a learning curve but once you have a few of the maneuvers figured out you're on your way. IntelliCAD on a free demo version to try out for 30 days.
