so i got my engine running and broke in (30 min at 2k). after break-in, i tried to put it in gear and nothing happened. no matter what gear i have it in, nothing happens. driveshaft is not spinning. nothing. any thoughts?

i realize there is a section for transmission. i overlooked it. if i can get better responses there, could someone please move this thread. i put it in here b/c it is hooked to an i6. sorry for the trouble. thanks again.

trans lever. is that the small little thing that bolts on the side of the tranny-has a cable going up? if so, i have that bolted up.
99% pos the torque converter is bolted up
ill check the fluid...
when i had the tranny out, the thing that regulates what gear the tranny is in got moved around a bit...this popped into my head as a problem but i remembered that when i hooked it all back together, the cable kind of forced that little guy back into position. could this still be the problem?
If your transmission worked when you took out, it's hard to do anything externally to it to make it not work now. Shifting between park, nuetral, drive whatever manually with it out isn't going to hurt anything.
Below is assuming you had to take the converter out.
Did you had a quart or so to the torque converter before locking it in to the tranny?
Did you spin several times to make sure it locked in or was still locked in?
Did you let 4 quarts of transmission fluid soak in for a couple hours before start up, and add the rest of the fluid before start up?
Other things.
Jack the rear wheels off the ground put it on jack stands. Try manually shifting the tranny at the arm, if it shifts like this you have misadjusted the shift linkage. Make sure the fluid is good as said above, then while it's on the jack stands so there isn't a load on the tranny run it through the gears and give it a little gas in each gear sometimes air gets stuck in the tranny and it takes a little bit for the fluid to get going again. Finally, you could check to make sure you didn't knock the lock nut loose on your band adjustment(s).
Hopefully, it wasn't too low on fluid because running a tranny dry for 30 minutes at 2k could burn up the clutches.

i figured it out. sorry i am so late on the response...we had no power here in springfield because of the tornadoes. what it was was low fluid. the reason it threw me for a loop is because i had it full. once i started the truck, it sucked it up and needed more...i just hadn't checked it until after i posted. thanks all for the help. chris
