I'm thinking about an bed mounted tank and found three that I'm considering. One is a 70 gallon transflow made from aluminized steel, one is a 30 gallon made from Aluminized Steel and one is a 50 gallon Gallon Aluminized Steel. They are all basically the same price and am I trying to figure out what the difference is and why not to buy the 70. I only fill up about once a week as it is, just can not stand going to the gas station.
It all depends on your personal preference. I bought the largest one they offered at the time and love it. I can drive 1500 miles before I even have to start thinking maybe I need to look for a Flying J or a Pilot station. And that's towing the trailer, getting 9 mpg.
EDIT: Oops, I meant 1000 miles.

Which model do you have? It looks like the diamond plate which is even more expensive.
It's the 98 gallon aluminum tank. It was less expensive than a competetors model that didn't have a way of monitoring the levels and transferring between the two. Current prices are listed on thier web site. I paid about $50.00 less than what they list right now back in '02. I haven't had one bit of trouble with it. Install it and run with it. http://www.transferflow.com/html/cro...edtanks_0.html

After checking the diminsions I think the 50 would work best for me. What was involved in the installation? Do I have to cut holes in my bed or can it be piped through the two cutouts that are already in the bed?

Just an FYI northerntool.com has bed tanks as well. Many sizes. Cheaper than transfer flow, however no monitoring. Gravity feed kit to your main tank also available there. Bought a 91 gallon polished diamond plate for work. Very nice.
Transfer flow is a complete system from the research I have done with nice fuel level meters, etc. Other vendors are available.

If you have cutouts already there, than you can use them. Just make sure that the fuel line is protected from the sharp edges. Transferflow uses a fuel pump to transfer the fuel to the main tank and they want it mounted at a lower level than the auxiliary tank.
