Ok, I have the motor home and it has been rebuilt. Now I need to add the acc. items and do the modifications I have heard about here. Do I need to drill the holes in the valley that you guys were talking about. What other things should I do to add life to the motor. Any modification ideas would be appreciated. Ed
I agree with 312 on the holes, based upon what I've read. At best they are not necessary, and at worst they could weaken the block. Make sure you degree in the cam if it hasnt already been done. It would be best to get someone experienced to help, but if that isnt possible, you can get through it with an article or book on the subject. Also, measure and record the distance between the top of the piston and the deck, and cc the heads. The measurements wont make the motor any better, but you can calculate the static compression. Tools for cc measurements are available at mail order parts houses.
thanks guys. I was not looking forward to drilling anyway. I found the article from hot rod I was looking for. All of that seems like a bit much. I think I will just finish puting it back together and get it painted and ready. Ed
